FREE Workplace Health & Safety Training

In July of this year WisCOSH joined with several other COSH groups and submitted a proposal to the Department of Labor‘s (DOL) Susan Harwood Training Grant. This program is overseen by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). In late September WisCOSH received word that we had been funded for the proposed Targeted Topic Training Grant we had submitted. These funds will allow WisCOSH to offer training at no cost to those that participate in the sessions.

The training is called PPE: A Worker’s Last Line of Defense and will last approximately one hour. In this workshop we will look at OSHA‘s requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE), what is PPE, and who is responsible for it. As the workshop is of limited time it will not go into great detail but will discuss many types of PPE, selection criteria and OSHA requirements concerning PPE. The workshop will be available in English, Spanish and bilingually.

Our target audience are low wage workers, workers in high hazard occupations, immigrant workers and young workers but the sessions are open to all workers as well as employers. As the sessions employ small group activities the minimum size will be 4 participants and a maximum size of 20 although if necessary accommodations can be made. All participants will receive reference materials.

WisCOSH has received and returned the contracts and is now preparing the materials. We anticipate beginning holding sessions in December of 2024 and through September of 2025. Please contact WisCOSH if you are interested in scheduling a session.
