Annual Membership Meeting

It’s that time of year where WisCOSH celebrates its accomplishments over the past year, takes a look ahead to what we see looming on the horizon as far as worker health and safety protection locally and at the federal level with OSHA. We also, in accordance with our By-Laws, hold an election of officers to serve on our Board of Directors and ensure we are meeting worker’s workplace health and safety needs. Each year one half of the Board of Directors is up for election so that there is always some experiential knowledge carried forward. To be eligible to vote and/or run for office you must be a member in good standing at the start of the nomination process. Dues can be paid the day of the election.

This year WisCOSH has been invited by the Waukesha County Labor Council (WCLC) to join them at their Open House & Holiday Celebration. The date and time for this is Wednesday, December 11, 2024 starting at 5pm. It will be held at the Labor Temple in Waukesha located at 1726 S. West Ave., Waukesha, WI. There is no cost to attend this event but we do ask that you rsvp by Monday, December 9, 2024 so that we can ensure sufficient food and beverages for all that attend. This year’s guest speaker will be WI State AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Marcos Alfaro.

Any and all of WisCOSH‘s members are eligible to run for and be elected to office. Membership in WisCOSH is open to any individual that agree with the objectives set down in our Mission Statement in our Bylaws (Article I, Section ii: To improve safety and health for Wisconsin’s workers by providing the environment and resources for concerned individuals to use their skills for the direct benefit of working people and their families. To empower people to join together and collaborate with others, including healthcare personnel, community leaders and interested business people, to create an interest in safety and health in the workplace). Any individual that agrees to the purpose of the Corporation, the Bylaws and tenders dues appropriate for membership shall become a member. WisCOSH has three types of membership: Individual, Union and Affiliate memberships.

Individual Membership has three dues levels so that no interested person be excluded due to inability to pay dues. Those levels are Low Income ($10/year), Standard ($40/year) and Sustaining ($100/year or more). Dues are calculated on an annual basis from when paid. A Sustaining member having paid at least $100/year for 10 years will be considered a Lifetime Member and will need to make no further dues payments but shall be considered in good standing from that time forward. They also are given a discounted price for any message of support in WisCOSH‘s Resource Directory.

Union Membership dues are calculated on an annual basis from the time of payment of dues. The dues are calculated on a 25¢/member with a minimum of $25 (up to 100 members) and a maximum of $650 (2,600 or more members). Union Membership provides for up to 3 delegates to represent the union in official matters such as election of officers. Delegates amounts are: 1 delegate for up to 350 represented members and appropriate dues paid, 2 delegates for 351-1,000 represented members and appropriate dues paid, 3 delegates for 1,001 or more represented members and appropriate dues paid.

Affiliate Membership is open to for profit and nonprofit organizations (such as union district, sub district or international offices) or businesses whose practices are not contradictory to WisCOSH‘s Mission. Affiliate Members are not able to nominate officers to the Board of Directors nor shall they be entitled to a vote for persons running for Board of Directors but are eligible to be nominated and elected to serve on the Board of Directors. Affiliate Membership consists of 4 levels of membership wherein $100/year is a basic membership, $250/year is a supporting membership, $500/year is a sustaining membership and $1,000/year is an activist membership. Affiliate Membership of Supporting and above include ad space in WisCOSH‘s Resource Directory and one or more dinners at the Annual Membership Meeting dependent on level of affiliation.
