Stop Work Authority: What Is It? Do You Have It?

WisCOSH is part of the National COSH and works with other COSH groups around the country to help workers get the information they need to stay safe and healthy on the job. Part of that information is knowing about your rights in the workplace and how to use them to protect yourself and your coworkers.

With the advent of COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 things have radically changed when it comes to providing training and information. WisCOSH firmly believes that in-person training utilizing adult education principles is the best way to deliver quality training and information. That being said we also feel that quality training and information can be done remotely and sometimes that may be the only way you have of accessing it. Therefore when another COSH offers training that may be useful we want to help them spread the word so you can participate if you choose to do so.

The New Jersey Work Environment Council (NJ WEC) is offering a workshop on Stop Work Authority later this month. It is free of charge. You’ve never heard of Stop Work Authority? It is the right of workers to stop work and work processes until the hazard is thoroughly investigated and abated to the worker’s, the union’s (if you have one) and management’s satisfaction. This free webinar is certain to help unions win effective contract language and effective SWA processes in your collective bargaining contract. This session will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 and will start at 12CST and go until 2pmCST. You can register for this session at https://tinyurl.com/WEC-SWA.
