Once again this April 28th WisCOSH will be holding memorial events in Milwaukee, WI. As Worker’s Memorial Day falls on a Sunday this year we will hold these events earlier in the day. We hope you will join us as we remember those workers that never went home at the end of their shift last year and rededicate our efforts to stop these preventable tragedies from happening and forever changing families and communities.
Fight Like Hell For The Dead!
Join us starting at 12:30pm at the American Postal Worker’s Union Hall (417 N. 3rd St., Milwaukee, WI 53203) for a communal meal and a program including several special guest speakers.
The meal will consist of your choice of locally made bratwurst or all beef hot dog, chips, home made dessert for $10 a plate (or $7.50 if reserved ahead of time). There will be a vegetarian option available but we ask you notify us ahead of time to ensure we have sufficient meals. There will also be a variety of beverages available. There will be scholarships available. The profits from this meal are split between WisCOSH to help fund our activities and the Milwaukee Area Labor Council to help fund the maintenance and upkeep of Zeidler Union Square Park.
After the meal we will hear from several guest speakers including the local OSHA Office. We will hear about workplace health and safety actions occurring in local workplaces and what the community can do to help end the unsafe and unhealthy actions being taken or allowed to happen by employers. We will also hear from the Milwaukee OSHA Office about areas of special emphasis and projects being undertaken in 2024.
After the speakers a procession will be lead over to Zeidler Union Square Park for the next event.
Mourn The Dead
At 2pm the Milwaukee Area Labor Council will commence a program at Zeidler Union Square Park (301 W. Michigan St., Milwaukee, WI 53203) by the gazebo where we will hear from local, state and federal elected officials as well as union workers about efforts underway to stop the deadly toll faced by workers every day on the job. The will be followed by the reading of the names and a commemoration ceremony.
Please make plans to join us for both of these events and let us know how WisCOSH can help you ensure your work is safe and your workplace is a healthy environment to work in.
